The Director as Collaborator

Part of our Expansion Pack Series of events, meant for those who have already been doing personal and/or institutional work on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Bill Fennelly has directed at some pretty fantastic places- New York City Opera, OSF, Playwrights Horizons, Roundabout, and many more. Through all of them, he has been examining his own process for ways to be more equitable, expansive, creative, and collaborative. Learn from Bill's journey options for creating equity and collaboration throughout the process, while not compromising vision or quality.

Since this is a workshop on collaboration, this will be presented with Nicole Perry, a recent collaborator with Bill on "I Hate Hamlet" at The Maltz Jupiter Theatre. Bill and Nicole will offer their experiences in:

  • examining the text

  • creating audition notices

  • making time in rehearsals (even tech week!)

  • pivoting, not policing

Bill will also speak to the importance of embodied practice for directing.

This will be an interactive workshop. Bring your creative selves!
