Teaching with Touch

You are doing relevant, necessary work and the L/BMA system offers a technical language to support it! This workshop offers movement experiences as student and teacher. You will leave this workshop able to say:

      • I have the tools to work with effective touch.

      • I am aware of the power and dangers of working with touch.

      •  I have the tools to create communities that value the individual.

This course will be offered again in November! Register on the Events page.

Motif and Notation for Documentation

The ease of video recording has meant that documenting dance and/or blocking has taken a technological turn. However, for prompt books and nuance a written record may be able to record intent and priorities of the creator, as well as movement. This workshop is an introduction to using Motif Writing and Notation to document choreography and/or blocking. You will leave this workshop able to say:

      • I can write basic symbols in Body, Effort, Shape, and Space categories.

      • I am aware how my choice of symbols in motif communicate my priorities as a creator.

      • I am able to create documentation of creative work.

      • Also available as an Online Course!

Laban Basics Online Course

Mindful. Body-full.

Mindful movement connects the mind and body. And since everyone’s body is different different techniques and options are required to help our students/clients fully embody their work to the best of their ability, while being conscious of sensation and change. This workshop includes movement experiences and time for personal reflection. You will leave this workshop able to say:

      • I have the tools to help my students make the choices that are right for them for expression and/or function.

      • I have the tools to help my students decrease pain/chance of injury.

      • I have the tools to guide diverse learners through movement experiences that help them deepen their own body awareness.

      • I have the tools to encourage my students to bring their individuality into the movement of their practice.
